After the morning ‘routine‘, we went to the administration office to exchange the book that I borrowed on the first day – The Independence of Mary Bennett – with other two books. We also returned the DVD – Predators – and borrowed the Holiday’s Chiwawa and Ring Around Rosie.
I did not finish reading the first book that I borrowed. It was written decades after Jane Austen’s – the original author of Pride and Prejudice, Mary Benette was a character in her book, as the sister of Elizabeth Bennett. I didn’t like the ‘attempt’ made by the author of “The Independence of Mary Bennett” to distort the ‘happily ever after’ ending of Elizabeth Bennett and the charming Mr Darcy.
We had lunch at Mali Restaurant, and were pleasantly pleased with the food. It cost more than the other restaurants we had been to, but Mike’s eyes lit up at the first sip of the Tom Yam soup. Looked like the “conquest” ended with that sip.
I remembered reading on the hotel information folder of a 10% discount for in-house guests of Sugar Palm Grand, so we presented our room key card and got the discount. I was quite certain that most of the guests either didn’t dine there, or didn’t know about the discount, as the waiting staff wasn’t familiar with it; after all, most people don’t read the hotel information sheet, do they? (that would be amongst the first things I do when I check in to any hotel room)
I began reading “The Price of Love” and was mesmerized by the story immediately – the story of Nikola who survived physical and sexual abuses.
It’s been pouring heavily since afternoon, so staying in and read a book in between sips of wine coolers was just perfect.
We had dinner at Mali again. Obviously, we liked the restaurant, more than we thought!
Yet another perfect relaxed day gone by…
