free and easy

view from hill top

Let’s see, I think today is the free and easy day for Mike in Vietnam, as the wedding should take place tomorrow or the day after.

I believe that he had a leisure tour up the hill top and took these photos.

Not sure if it’s his blackberry built-in camera, or the sky was really grayish. Mike said that I might like the place. As far as I am concerned, I have not seen anything that is intriguing interesting yet.

I probably love castle, and old architecture more than nature. When we were at the Ocean Road, I was reluctant to take photos after a day, I don’t feel as strongly about hills, trees, sea etc as much as I would feel for old buildings and deeply cultured museums.

The only reason I love resort island would be the ‘hope’ and ‘desire’ for less crowd, and away from the bustling city. Resort island would probably not string the excitement in me, rather, it’s a preferred destination for some serenity perhaps.

Ferry terminal in Ho Chi Minh

Mike is off to Vung Tau, Vietnam to attend his brother’s wedding. Vung Tau is located near Ho Chi Minh city, and the fastest way to travel to Vung Tau from HCM city, would be by hydrofoil.

Mike sent me this photo while waiting at the ferry terminal yesterday.

view from the hotel

Vung Tau is an island, and this is what greets Mike in the morning. Accordingly, the temple (the small ‘island’ across the main island) can only be visited during low tide.

The first impression that I got, off the photo, was that the scenery looks really ‘tired’. Can’t quite tell if this island is very commercialized based on this photo alone. It reminds me a little of Koh Samui which impression was left with me for at least 10 years back.
