travel photobook 2009

The travel photobook for 2009 is finally printed! I have been swamped with tons of things and the problem solving with the government board which has been going on forever!

Nothing much done to template for the cover and separator pages since I am really dry in time, I am amazed that I even managed to compile the book at all.

It is still important for me to make the book. We still go through the books once in a while.

Like I mentioned before, printing photobook is very affordable these days, and since I am a regular city person living in a regular sized apartment in the tiny Singapore, space is always top in the list when considering any tangible items to chuck into the tiny space.

I try to use all the photos that we had taken during the holidays, and insert the daily journals that I noted during the trip. I toss out the brochures, maps, and other stuffs only after I have printed the book, in case I needed to refer to some details such as address on the receipts, names of the restaurants/shops.

For 2010 travel photobook, we would have Darwin, Australia; Perth, Australia; and one more that is taking place in October. Hopefully I could get to complete the book by March. Well, I think I said something similar the year before. :P

day 2 – redang, malaysia

redang - hotel lobby

The lobby…

redang - work in progress

New villas – work in progress

(this was sent after I complained that the lobby photo is uninteresting, so I guess, this is slightly more interesting? Because at least it has a bit of story to tell, that is.. work in progress.. boo)

redang

Mike sent me a bunch of uninteresting photos of the trip. What I see though, is almost like recommending the resort hotel!!!

He even ‘recycled’ one photo to me which was already sent yesterday!!!

I am beginning to think that Redang could be a boring place to visit, or not. Mike has a innate super ‘censor’, I remember all the other places he went to, he always ended up telling, ‘boring, nothing much’, and I got a completely different story out from his travel companions!

Redang could be a perfect place for relaxation and minimized activities though, then again, I can’t exactly comment for real, since the impression and source of information were provided by a highly unreliable source. hahaha

day 1 in redang

mini plane to redang island

So, this is the mini plane operated by Bejaya that takes you to Redang, if you are considering a flight rather than road trip. It’s recently up-sized to a larger plane, it was originally smaller.

nice view from the hotel

This is a view from the hotel room. Personally, trees are great by me, I am not too much a beach person. If you are a beach person though, you’d probably rather not have the trees blocking your view eh.

I don’t seem to be able to get away from Mike’s clutches.. at all. I was once his secretary (I was also the girlfriend then) and I can’t tell you how sympathetic I felt towards my former-boss, or not?

You see, I was professionally trained in secretarial duties, however, I have to say that I make a better administrator (note: administrator is different from administrative assistant, nothing against the latter, just wanting to clarify) than a secretary. I am super duper opinionated, and if you have worked for local firms run by local bosses who know peanuts (be thankful they even know peanuts) of business management, you know what I am going to say here. It’s utterly frustrating when you tried to work efficiently, and the know-nothing boss ushered you around to perform tasks that hindered job efficiency.

As with my other former bosses, Mike suffered similar fate. He has this problem in asking questions more precisely. Have you heard your superior asked, ‘can you hand me the contract’. I am not sure, but maybe, just maybe, there is this narcissism exists in most bosses, who conveniently assumed that the secretary loves him so much that she tracks every single movement of his?

Oh well, giving them the benefit of doubts, they are probably too busy, hence the forgetfulness. The thing is, they usually assumed that we can read their minds, or understand so well as though we are the worms in their stomachs, that they didn’t need to verbalize their need, and we would just get it.

Anyhow, I am a boss-scolder. Right, I don’t have the most gracious temper I wished I had.

In case you wonder, I am at home, blogging away on Mike’s short trip..haha.. It’s not an obligation, and I guess Mike loves to keep my posted with his activities, so that I can in a way share the joy too. (I have no idea why I went blah blah blah on the secretary topic though, I guess I was so interrupted in many ways today while I was trying to finish some stuffs, and it kind of gets to me for a bit)
